As a family you should determine the specific beach area you are looking to visit, determine the lodging options available, and choose one that works with the vacation plan you have as well as the vacation budget you have established.
· Determine how you will get to your destination. Often travel is overlooked when planning the vacation. You’ve thought about where you are going and what you will do there, but have put very little planning into the time traveling to reach your destination. Depending on how far you are traveling you may decide to travel by plane or by car. When traveling by plane you need to determine if you will need local transportation upon arrival. If traveling by car you need to make arrangements for the length of the trip, entertainment options while traveling, and even consider stopping points and points of interest along the way.
· What is your plan for dining while on vacation? Food is a big expense when you’re on vacation. Depending on where you are staying and how many people will be eating at each meal. One of the advantages to renting a cabin or condo is that you can plan for traditional family meals and cooking using the kitchen provided. For larger family gatherings you can even coordinate sharing cooking and meal planning responsibilities.
· Will there be planned entertainment and activities? One of the great things about vacation is that you can relax and enjoy some down time. There may be however some events you want to plan during your trip. Take the time to discuss these with the other family members going and try not to overbook your time.
